Introducing Rex QR Codes for contactless self check-in

By now, you’re probably all familiar with the QR Code. Originally designed in 1994, the humble Quick Response code has recently been thrust into the limelight to help with contact tracing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

From today, you can now create a QR Code for your open homes and inspections from inside Rex – and your attendees can check themselves in!

Aside from the obvious benefit of maintaining social distancing rules, this new functionality helps our New South Wales users comply with the latest legal requirement to keep a digital record of attendees – but that’s not all.‍

3 less obvious benefits of using QR codes for self check-in

This latest functionality packs a punch. Use the new QR Code functionality to:

  1. take the stress out of your open homes. The QR code functionality helps agency staff efficiently manage check-ins and frees up time to speak with potential buyers.
  2. create a positive first impression. The new check-in experience is slick and puts your agency brand front and centre.
  3. provide attendees with easy access to an e-brochure for the listing.

Setting up your QR codes

We’ve created a new default brochure that includes a QR code. Every listing gets its own QR Code, but you don’t need to worry about the fiddly behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating thousands of unique QR codes – Rex has it sorted.

How it works

When an open home attendee scans the QR code, a check-in form will appear on their device. This form pulls in all your basic agency details, as well as the details for that open home (including agent details), and requires a name and postcode, as well as either an email or phone number.

Upon checking in, Rex will quickly search your contact records to find a match and, if there isn’t one, create a new contact record. You’ve got fine-grained control over whether Rex searches for a match against contact records you own, contact records you have update privileges for, or any contact in your agency’s Rex account. It’s all about that single point of truth and keeping your data clean.

To help you stay on top of who’s checking in, even from a distance, an attendee’s device will display a large tick and emit a loud ding sound when they successfully submit their check-in form.

It’s as simple as that!
