About the role
Technical leads at Rexlabs are responsible for the coaching and mentoring of the team, as well as leading key technical decisions. Ensuring that solutions are at the right level of scalable and fast, for the issue at hand, in collaboration with the product and design team.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you’ll ensure your team is motivated and know what they’re doing day-to-day. The HoE will guide your team in their career and development with your input.

Key Responsibilities
• Coach the team to maintain and raise technical standards.
• Challenge the team to discover and implement simple solutions.
• Support team members' personal development through positive and constructive feedback.
• Foster a collaborative team culture.
• Liaise with PM and Design, owning the technical feasibility of projects.
• Lead in the discovery stage to scope, shape, spike, and mitigate risk.
• Own the technical backlog - prioritise technical tasks like tech debt, testing, infrastructure, and deployment.
• Collaborate with other Technical Leads for alignment on approaches and standards.
• Collaborate with the Head of Engineering on team updates, development goals, and delivery priorities.
• Balance hands-on coding with effective coaching, mentorship, and team guidance.

• 7+ years of relevant work experience in a senior technical role in an agile environment.
• You genuinely take joy in helping others to learn and grow.
• Professional experience writing PHP using a modern framework (e.g. Laravel, Symfony)
• You take previous learnings and experiences and incorporate them within the Rex context toward achieving our vision and strategy.
• A strong collaborative approach to problem-solving
• Deep empathy for those you work with and lead, and a drive to build and foster highly effective teams
• You’re comfortable in a fast-paced, agile environment and can facilitate and support cross-team collaboration to deliver positive customer outcomes.
