Let’s break the ice: what does a real estate website cost?

Design & Branding

How much does a real estate website cost? Well, in this blog, I’m going to tell you.

Why would I do this? It seems many people are completely unaware of how much time and effort actually goes into developing a good website – and so we get a few people from time to time who want us to explain the cost benefits of our template websites.

When you get a new website, you’re not buying a website – you’re engaging with a designer and developer and paying for their time to bring your website to life.

The breakdown on set up costs

UX and graphic design to build mock ups, revisions, final design $4,500

Responsive design for mobiles and tablets $2,500

Website coding $7,500

Content Management System (CMS) integration – this allows you to self-manage content. We use WordPress and whilst WordPress itself is free, the cost to install it on a server, configure it properly, build your website on top of the CMS is around $1,200

Social media integration $1,000

Contact Forms. We have 13 prebuilt forms and at about $100 per form this is $1,300

Backend API integration with external systems like the Rex CRM to then allow for full property listing and searching capabilities, open home times etc. on the website – $5,000

Content Insertion – Generally, it takes about 15-20 minutes per page just to enter content into WordPress and then format it correctly. For an average real estate website this is about $500

The breakdown on on-going costs

Hosting: $600+ a year for a lightning fast, quality, Australian-based hosting provider

Ongoing Help & Support: $1200+ a year.

Constant development of new real estate specific functionality added to the website: $5000+ a year

So, how much does a real estate website cost?

Typically, a high-quality, fully-responsive, real estate specific website would cost around $25,000 to set up and around $7000 a year to maintain and keep up to date with the latest and greatest technology.

Complex larger sites for agencies with specific website needs, groups/franchises can easily cost more than $50,000 especially if there’s a lot of custom functionality required.

Why a Rex Template website?

For a fraction of the initial and on-going costs, you can pick a Rex Template website, but with all the same benefits of a custom developed website. Hundreds of hours of design and development time has gone into each and every one of our templates to ensure they are the most modern, up-to-date and future-proofed real estate websites around.
